YOUR WEBSITE IS NOT PROTECTED! This is exactly why you should STOP using WordPress for your website.
The exploit everyone is talking about this morning is PHP2Shell (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619).
Two critical remote code execution (RCE) flaws in the PHP core itself. Both rated CVSS 9.2. Affects essentially every PHP version from 5.4 onward (including current 8.x branches).
Technical details and an exploit tool (called PHP2Shell) leaked publicly on October 20, 2026, ahead of the planned coordinated disclosure. PHP maintainers announced an emergency out-of-band security release for October 21, 2026 at 14:00 UTC. Early attack attempts were already observed by Cloudflare on the morning of the 21st. Security firms (Sansec, watchTowr, etc.) expect mass exploitation to ramp up very quickly once the patches (and more complete technical details) are public.
Why it’s so serious? Unauthenticated RCE potential — attackers can run arbitrary code on vulnerable servers without needing a login. PHP powers a massive share of the internet (WordPress alone is often cited at ~40% of websites, plus Magento, Joomla, Drupal, Laravel, custom apps, etc.). Millions of internet-facing hosts are potentially exposed.
